Make room for participation

A familiar conversation or shared activity can remain part of the day. Offer simple choices, allow time for a response and respect the person’s comfort rather than forcing participation.

Common questions

How is this related to dementia care?

Alzheimer’s disease is one form of dementia. Daily support is based on the individual’s abilities, routines and needs rather than the diagnosis alone.

What if eating or swallowing becomes difficult?

New coughing, choking or swallowing difficulty requires appropriate clinical evaluation. A caregiver does not independently decide on new food textures or feeding methods.
